To our dear families, supporters, volunteers and vendors,
It’s with sadness that we announce the cancellation of all Always Lucy Strong events scheduled for 2020, including A Little Summer Jam.
In light of the current public health crisis, our decision to cancel 2020 was based on many factors. One, and most importantly, the people we serve are in the very high risk category. At each of our events, we have loved having our families join us in any way they choose, and it’s always a highlight for us to see their faces and hug them. Given the situation, it would be irresponsible for us to put them in harm’s way.
Secondly, our events rely heavily on the support of the small businesses in and around our surrounding community. All of them have been severely impacted by this, and we wouldn’t, couldn’t, in good faith ask them to help us right now.
Third, it takes months of planning to coordinate our events, especially A Little Summer Jam. With so much uncertainty at this point, it’s impossible to schedule all that needs to be scheduled in order to carry out an event we are proud of.
Today, we ask two things of you.
- If you were planning on making a donation to Always Lucy Strong this year, please consider redirecting those funds to an organization currently engaged in the COVID-19 battle.
- If you are in a position to do so, please consider supporting those businesses who have supported us over the years.
The pinnacle of Always Lucy Strong has always been to create moments that matter for our families afflicted with ALS. Now, more than ever, this rings true for all of us. We hope you are taking this time to enjoy your family, and are finding some joy.
We hope to return in 2021, wiser from this challenge.
Be well, and take care.
Sincerely,
Carol Hoffman, Jennifer Kimmen and JoAnn Nadeau
